2 Hour FREE Salsa dance Lesson - WED. NOV 26TH

La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley, has given us the opportunity to facilitate space for a FREE SALSA DANCE LESSON for 2 hours at their beautiful venue. This event is a tryout experience in order to potentially continue a weekly class there. Please invite your family friends to come by! Your support in attending, is not only very helpful, but also a fun learning experience. This is a donation based tryout class, no one is turned away for the lack of funds.

Salsa, Latin House, Latin HipHop, Merengue, Dub-Cumbia, Bachata and more..! Tropicana is in support of a environmental project in Ecuador called Collective Wave.

AutoBio.- Being raised in Ecuador, I remember I used to hate salsa dance music. Not that I hate anything now, but it was played in many public places. Of course, it was played with some vallenato, cumbias, san pedritos and reggaeton. But salsa was too much for me at that time. Until I hit the age of 15, I began to illegally dance salsa at local clubs in Quito - Ecuador, such as: El Choque, Tijuana, El Varadero, and more. “an under-age illegal dancer”. However, I mostly enjoyed dancing with friends and family. In 2001, at the age of 19, I moved to San Francisco, California. Still, I was not legally old enough for clubs, but that did not stop me. Dancing all over the latin music clubs in the Bay has been amazing, I subconsciously developed my dancing skills with help of many other amazing talented people, creating dance groups of our own and consistently meeting at latin music bars, such as Tunnel Top, Bissap Baobab, Madrone, Makeout Room, and more. Occasionally we would visit Roccapulco, El Rio, Cafe Cocomo, Jelly`s.

After ten years of social dancing, I began to consider teaching salsa dance, especially after being encouraged by my family - community. In 2009, I began to teach a unique fusion form of Ecuadorian / BayArea Salsa Dance Style, what ever that means... Actually, I emphasis in helping those interested individuals in developing personal self-expression through dance and to create their own unique style , with a salsa flavor.
